Spain.. The Wrap-up!
It wasn’t till the last bloggers meetup that the thought that I haven’t really seen the “cultural side” of Spain had hit me. Those two weeks I was there were spent either chilling on some beach, eating at some restaurant, or just wandering around with the car looking for some attraction, a zoo, a go-kart track, a paintball field and a miniature golf was all there is to it.
Marbella (the city where I stayed) is a truly great city with such a friendly atmosphere, despite the fact that English people are everywhere. Those guys are incredible. They travel all the way to Spain apparently to discover and share a bit of a different culture, but all they do is sit in pubs, drink Guinness and watch football on TV. Not mentioning food, with every single English person encountered in a “bodega”, drinking beer or Coke and eating Steak and Chips when the counter is loaded with amazing seafood, and other specialties!!! So I do have some comfort in that matter.
What’s worse is during my return trip I decided to spend a couple of nights in London, and being the typical Arab tourist that I am have again wasted the opportunity not at museums and theaters, but exhausting my credit card limits on an endless shopping spree. And the fact that I didn’t have company didn’t help much either.
I am not sure that I regret wasting the opportunity of being in Spain and not exploring the true culture, cuisine, and fashion rich aspects of the country, it was still true fun filled and memorable experience!

Madry shagool, I’m disapointed I thought this would be a long thread with nice pictures and loads of details.
haha, do u hate me now.
best travel is when you get lost in a city with a map and walk around on foot. do something different. hey, im glad you enjoyed it but you definitely have to do Marbella again, and see it in a totally different light.
Don’t worry, other than the English in Marbella, it is the real hangout of neuvo rich and old money Gulfites. You could have gone to the only hill down town and gazed at the splendour of King Fahad’s summer palace, and then hang a right and go to Tesco’s or any of the many malls available there. I bet if you had closed your eyes you would be excused to have thought that you were in Seef!
But the cornice is beautiful and that’s where everybody hangs out, and their zillion restaurants. That’s the extent of culture there. If you really push it, you could have gone out of town a few kilometres and had lunch or dinner in one of the stud farms and watched the magnificent horses being paraded in front of you as you ate and a Flamenco dancer do her thing at your table. I watched the horses!
Welcome back and I’m glad that you have recharged your batteries… now get back to blogging!
