Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights (BYSHR) is highly concerned by the sufferings of Safia Ahmed Ali, 36 from Al-Deer “Al-Muharraq” village. Safia is homeless and the Ministry of Housing refuses to give her an adequate house. [...]

“I launched a sit-in near the Ministry of Housing since five days ago on Saturday 30 June 2007. My daughter Mariam, 10 years-old, joined me for two days but she could not continue because of the very hot weather. Therefore, I took her to one of my relatives and then I came back to continue my strike. I decided not to move from here and I had to sleep on roadside,” Safia told BYSHR. Via BYSHR

كلما قرأت عنها موضوعاً، تفطر قلبي هماً و غما. أيعقل هذا؟ أن تعتصم إمرأة في العراء تفترش الأرض و تلتحف السماء في دولة نفطية لثلاثة أسابيع دون أن يلتفت لها و يسمع مطالبها بشر؟ حتى بلغ السيل الزبى من اللامبالاة وأضربت عن الطعام حتى أغمي عليها من العطش و الجوع؟! أيعقل هذا؟

فلمن تنادي؟ أينهم نوابنا الأفاضل وهم من أقسم بأغلظ الإيمان بأن يكونوا عوناً و سنداً للوطن و المواطن؟ أين المسؤولون عن السكن و الإسكان؟ أين علماء الدين الذين آلوا على أنفسهم ان يقحموا انفسهم في ما يعنيهم و ما لا يعنيهم بإسم الدين و المذهب؟ أين وعد و الوفاق و المنبر؟ أين الشعب؟ هل ضاعت الرجولة؟ أين الكرم و الجود و المروءة العربية التي ننادي بها؟ أين أصحاب طلبات الإسكان أنفسهم؟ أم حقاً أسكتتهم إبرة الـ 100 دينار التخديرية؟ لالالا، بل أين الإنسانية، أضاعت؟ أنسيت؟! الموضوع ليس موضوعاً سياسي آخر حتى نغمض أعيننا عنه، الموضوع إنساني بالدرجة الأولى!! ولكن!

لو كانت كلباً عقور لحن عليها أكثر من هذه المسكينة، ولكن.. لمن تنادين يا صفية؟ فالمجتمع مذبوح، لا يضره وخز الأبر.. لله درك يا أم مريم، هذه المرأة وقفت موقف 100 رجل بل أكثر، تجرعت حرارة الشمس و مهانة الذل في سبيل إيصال مبدأ و تسجيل إحتجاج على الظلم و اللامبالاة على أرض هذا الوطن..

لا أدري من ألوم؟ فصفية هي واحدة من الآلاف في مجتمعنا، كثيرات هن من سترن على أنفسهن بجلوسهن في بيوت أهلهم وهم حملُ ثقيل، أواخريات إخترن الكدح ليل نهار للإستقلال بشقة أو غير ذلك دون أن يذللن أنفسهن لهذا و هذا، فما أصعب الذل، و ما أصعب الحاجة..

أقولها ملىء فمي، تفووو علينا أمة…

There are many like her in Bahrain.Her situation is most certainly not unique. She’s only desperate enough to protest the situation in the street. Other’s just give in and pray their god for help.

poor women I understand what she is going through, but the thing is how come nobody offered her help yet??

how come everybody just seem to ignore her?? isn’t weird that a WOMAN is suffering in our so called Muslim society??

She is not asking for too much is she ? just proper dwelling for her and her child.

This proves how successful the great capitalist system is.

I read in a local newspaper that the government provided a temporary residence for Safia & her daughter Maryam; however, the determined woman refused the help, continued her strike persistently demanding her right to a housing unit & trying to prove that our Ministry of Housing deals deceitfully with poor & deprived CITIZENS like herself, every single day!

Toil for the brave!
