Following are excerpts from an interview with Bahraini women’s rights activist Ghada Jamshir , which aired on Al-Arabiya TV on December 21, 2005.

Interviewer: Some people say that Ghada Jamshir is a Sunni, and that this is why she is leading the battle against (mut’ah) marriages, which are authorized by religious law among the Shiites.
Ghada Jamshir: Authorized by religious law?!

Interviewer: Among the Shiites, yes.
Ghada Jamshir: Does the Islamic Shari’a authorize mut’ah marriages? Does the Islamic Shari’a authorize mut’ah according to the following classification: “Pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs.” They have: “Pleasure from sexual touching.” “pleasure from sexual contact with her breasts.” “Pleasure from a little girl.” Do you know what “pleasure from a little girl” means? It means that they derive sexual pleasure from a girl aged two, three, or four.

Interviewer: Let’s not go into details…
Ghada Jamshir: Let me tell you what “Pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs” means…
Interviewer: Don’t give me the details…
Ghada Jamshir: This is a violation of children’s rights! This constitutes sexual assault of the girl. What does “pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs” mean? It means deriving sexual pleasure from an infant. How old is an infant? One year, a year and a half, a few months?
Is it conceivable for a grown man to have sex with an infant girl? And you people tell me that the Islamic Sharia authorizes this? Forget about the mut’ah. Let’s talk about misyar. What do misyar marriages mean? You said that I’m a Sunni and that’s why I’m attacking the Shiites. No!

Interviewer: Some people claim that.
Ghada Jamshir: No, no. What does the misyar marriage mean? A man marries a woman from another town, and goes to her once a month. He “visits” her. He calls her his “wife.”

Interviewer: Not necessarily once a month. He might go there every day.
Ghada Jamshir: Brother Turki, this kind of marriage, this kind of behavior, diminishes the woman’s honor as a human being.

I came across those accusations before and like many other scandalous issues within the religion I chose to turn a blind eye to, but since I got in the habit of raving around the same thoughts within the recent posts, I might as well tattle around those..

Now, I have done enough digging to judge that (contradictorily to what a lot of Muslims are claiming) all the points she mentioned are in fact ACCEPTED and ALLOWED in all divisions of Islam (under different names in some cases), the fact of the matter remains that it is solely the communal and social rejection that retained the situation and kept them in the shadows, forming a forbidden dark segment that others (like I did) simply chose to turn a blind eye to, which is to what I see is only expected given the remarkable faith and uneducated beliefs the majority has in the religion.

You see, it is just those types of issues that demonstrate how religion can overcome sane thoughts; I really came through many excuses, and lame justifications through books and online discussions, but I really fail to comprehend this pedophilic tolerance in the religion, you see.. It doesn’t really end by those sick perverted joys. But instead begins with an even bigger concern, Islam allows marriage to girls who have not even reach puberty yet, given the acceptance of the father at least, that is what I think is the real problem.

Dear God.. Do you really don’t care about the sexual abuse, feelings and pains of a 4 year old child when it comes to the sick perverted joy of a believer?

    Well, I guess part of the problem is, that the prophet (pbuh) married his wife Aisha when she was 6 or 9 years old (depending on which hadith you read). So many people believe, that there is nothing wrong in such things. And battling customs, that are based on hadiths or even the quran is like battling windmills. This would require a major reform of islam. Given the fact, that there was virtually not change or progress in the last few hundred years, I really doubt, that we’ll see such a reform in the next few hundred years…

    All I can say to that bitch is try not to get mad about not being “touched” when you were a little girl. In case you were wondering about the reason behind that is simple!     And you ask me to get my answers from the scholars? What scholars? The answers your scholars gave me don’t get into my simple head (again, refer to my sources above, or do take the time to look around my previous posts) the answers your turban heads gave me are conflicting most of the time, irrational and outdated. Do I close my eyes, delete all my thoughts of my head and nod with agreement, to please people like you?

    Is this how you REALLY handle things around here?
    Islam my dear friend is not 100% fool proof, with 73 different conflicting sects, those destructing thoughts fail to resemble any sense let alone a religion all together.

How does studying the quran over and over again make them qualified to be experts in economics, phsychology, sex and everything else they get their fingers on?     On a totally different note, part 2 of “Sexfull Islam” was supposed to be about Mut’aa Marriages. And on my Friday prayer post, since you are the only truthful Muslim here, I would assume u do know that Friday prayers are not considered necessary by all Shiite’s scholars (في أثناء غيبة الإمام المنتظر) ? I can give you the sources if they would be of any help (not that I am doubting that you would bother to read them at all).

    God bless Ghada Jamsheer for bringing up this point,I hope that it could bring some awareness to people. Shiite scholars have allowed many sex acts that Islam has clearly prohibited in the quran to take place.
    Any true Muslim would not argue about the practice of anal sex, shiite scholars however have given a fatwa that it is undesirable but if the wife agrees then Oh well its okey!!
    If there is any doubts to that then please checkout the fatwas in alsistani’s website.

    About this post. Scholars do not and should not come before the word of God. I dont care if they have divine light coming out one or more orifices of their body…this is not Christianity…there is no Pope in Islam…there is God and you…nothing in the middle. So all the scholars all throughout Islamic history that fabricated, endulged in male superiority, did some political greasing…etc and gave out a fatwa or even “found” a hadith to support their fantasy idea of what Islam is…then all I can say is God help them and the Muslims that follow them. If you follow the laws of man knowing they create injustice and are blatantly contradicting the laws of God…then you are committing shirk(worshipping something other than God)…following man rather than God is a form of worship….right?

    As for the poster that asked what kind of scholar would promote or give fatwas etc encouraging sex with children….I do believe the Ayatollah of Iran has a little book called the Little Green Book….if you feel like vomiting and banging your head to get the images out….read that book. You will weep for little girls growing up in Iran that are surrounded by men that give even a glimmer or credence to that perverts fantasies.

    I might also add that Shias are not the only ones passing laws or fatwas that contradict Islam…what a stupid thing to say.

    And imagine….I wrote all that without saying fuck even once.
