Beyond the Airport’s Clashes

For those of you who didn’t know of the recent incident in the Airport, Mahmood took the effort to shed some light on the thing as a whole in his article here; or alternatively you can check the GDN’s coverage here.
To cut a long story short; Professor Mohammed Sanad (at least that’s how the GDN referred to him) who has been living in Qum (Iran) for the past six years, had repeatedly called for the UN to conduct a referendum to determine whether or not the people of Bahrain would want to keep the current governing royal family.
His actions lead to his arrest upon arrival at the airport, and it was only minutes till the airport was filled with angry youths (or mobs, depends on how you look at it really) that turned the whole place into a total chaos.
Needless to say, we had to live through two days of aimless government glorification; countless rhetorical headlines praising the government and the regime, and (this one I enjoy the most) intimidating comments and threats of serious consequences, out to the whole nation.
It is through times like this that I really sit down and wonder, are we really ready for the so called democracy we strive for? Is full democracy even achievable? Through the channels we have today, can it be applied here in Bahrain let aside anywhere else? Or is it like the “Islamic Country”, which we all struggle so hardly for and turning a blind eye to facts uncovering day by day that such vague pinky thoughts are limited to dreamland?
How can we empower the people if they are not organized? If they don’t even know what they want? How can we empower the people if they keep clashing into each other and know no other way of signifying their rage and anger but protests and marches? How can we empower people that cannot even agree on one date for Eid (The most sacred Islamic Celebration)?
And the government isn’t any better, the issues we had with GOSI, PFA, the “black files” of Bapco, let alone the miserable status of the ministries, the parliament and the shura council, is this what we really want the people to lead?!
You simply can’t give an airplane to someone who miserably fails to fly a kite..

I wonder if the Professor has any thoughts about the people of Iran choosing whether or not to retain the mullahs? Nah, probably not.
I think what happend was done by animals not humans and what ever was the reason they dont have right to do what they have done
