Freedom of Speech my NECK

Blocked!!

Another blunt disgracing act by our wise government, three more local forums were blocked throughout the past week; without notice, without reasoning or justification, without even letting anyone know about it! It’s just.. Done!!

I just don’t see why they would do such a thing! Do those retards in green really think that they can control the internet?! Do they really think that the public can’t go around their pathetic primitive pointless blocks?! Or do they believe that by blocking those forums will be able to control the people’s mind? And limiting their ability to speak their minds freely? Do they believe that they will be forcing the people to believe their parrot like pitiable public media that does nothing but praising the local government, hiding all known problems to humanity that we suffer from in this country and showing Bahrain as nothing but god’s heaven on earth? discounting and pre-labeling all anti-government thoughts as unfair, unjust and diluted?

And why now!? Did they just realize the “underlying threat” and “poison” those forums spread among the good Bahraini citizens? Just days after the WSIS conference at Tunis? Is this how we want to show our “deMOCKratic”* reforms to the rest of the world? Detaining and interrogating three bloggers? Ordering webmasters to register their websites in the ministry of information or face a prison sentence of 6 months (and putting this in bold headline on the first page of all local newspapers)? And now this?!

I don’t know who had put the idea in their useless heads that they have the right to tell me or anyone what to read or think, this is nothing but an insult to the nation labeling us all as nothing but bamboozles that can’t think for ourselves…

Then again, were only a “Third World Country” after all… was I really expecting full and unrestrained freedom of speech?!

Confirmed with Batelco that both are in fact blocked on instructions from the Ministry of Information. I am in contact with the Ministry of Information now to find out who ordered them blocked and why.

    Stand by….

While your at it, could you please check why on earth is sex.com blocked too?

one step at a time my friend… one step at a time.

I’ve been given the typical Batelco corporate run-around. The person I have been suggested to call is Ahmed Hussain Janahi who is the Head of Corporate Affairs. He’s starting his weekend of course and will only be back in the office on Saturday. I’ve got him mobile number and tried to call him but it rings out.

    next step.

    Check this out:

Digg.com has been giving people a 500 Internal Server error when accessed from inside wonderland for the past 4 hours. Accessing digg through hidemya$$ shows the site is working fine.

Oh pray! what’s going on? ;-)

  • Mahmood Al-Yousif said:

calm down people, let’s not blow it out of proportion.

as to the 500 error, have a look at this:

500 errors in the HTTP cycle

Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with your Web server:

Obtain an IP address from the IP name of your site (your site URL without the leading ‘http://’). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
Receive an HTTP data stream back from your Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.
This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as ‘500′.

    Resolving 500 errors – general

This error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of your Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error.

Yeah … this website http://www.ladeeni.net is a discussion forum between arab athiests and their muslim counterpart. But the typical, zealous, backward mind can’t accept that. If someone says something I don’t understand, I’m gonna shoot him down. Bad form, man!

We’ll get to the bottom of this.

Well according to the GDN this morning 40 sites were blocked without informing their webmasters why they chose to block them. Some asswipe just decided before the weekend to screw Bahrain’s reputation once again.

  • Haitham said:

I don’t know if it is only me, but all the sites mentioned here are NOT blocked for me (even sex.com). Of course I have to mention that I’m not using Batelco line, I’m on MTC Vodafone 3G connection.

  • The Joker said:

Ohh look at me… I’m better than y’all.. I don’t use batelco.. I use the MTC 3G… how do you like that..

I’m just kidding with you Haitham
