Happy Independence Day!

Submitted by moodz on Wednesday, 15 August 20072 Comments

A campaign spearheaded by Al Wefaq Society will be launched today to declare August 15 Independence Day.

MP Jawad Fairooz from Al Wefaq , who is advocating the issue, said that this day had great significance since it was on this day that the Kingdom gained freedom from the British. “It gives us an opportunity to remember those who died in that struggle.”
He also hoped that the National Museum would dedicate a separate section for photographs, books, paintings or any piece of work or information related to that period. “We will spread the message to the government, municipal councilors, the Chamber of Deputies and adopt the practice of celebrating this day considering its importance.” Via Bahrain Tribune

I agree, we should all spread the message to the government about our own national day that still stands neglected for some uknown reason.

Or on another thought; cutting off national TV broadcasting and somehow manage to fill 24 hours of satellite broadcasting to half the planet with cheap patriotic songs that have very little mentioning of the country and nothing but fake flattery to the ruling family; on a second thought of filling up all the streets and local newspapers with pictures of our ever so “wise” leadership.. maybe not!

Happy Independence Day Bahrain.. Happy Independence Day

Independence to me is the right to think and execute. The right to make a difference, the right to contribute, and the right to have a say.

I wish you a happy Independence Day, may God preserve our countries from any potential enemies.
