Horrors in Iraq

Submitted by moodz on Wednesday, 11 July 20073 Comments

Speaking through an American interpreter, Lieutenant David Wallach who is a native Arabic speaker, the Iraqi official related how al Qaeda united these gangs who then became absorbed into “al Qaeda.” They recruited boys born during the years 1991, 92 and 93 who were each given weapons, including pistols, a bicycle and a phone (with phone cards paid) and a salary of $100 per month, all courtesy of al Qaeda. These boys were used for kidnapping, torturing and murdering people.

At first, he said, they would only target Shia, but over time the new al Qaeda directed attacks against Sunni, and then anyone who thought differently. The official reported that on a couple of occasions in Baqubah, al Qaeda invited to lunch families they wanted to convert to their way of thinking. In each instance, the family had a boy, he said, who was about 11 years old. As LT David Wallach interpreted the man’s words, I saw Wallach go blank and silent. He stopped interpreting for a moment. I asked Wallach, “What did he say?” Wallach said that at these luncheons, the families were sat down to eat. And then their boy was brought in with his mouth stuffed. The boy had been baked. Al Qaeda served the boy to his family.

No, this is not a description of a scene in a new American propaganda movie; this is not an excerpt of some fiction novel, not even moments in wawa land. But one of many documented stories of horrors and autocracies that found their way to the internet through Iraq based American military personal (Full Article here).

I can’t help but tell you how shocked I was on the barbaric nature of those people, how could anyone go this far? How could a human degrade down to this level of cruelty and brutality and let out their anger on children? 11 Year old children! Now I would understand decapitation, I could probably relate to suicide bombing or even targeting civilians but to reach this?!

The Nazis had to be killed for carrying out horrors like this; they were fought by the entire world for them tolerating such extreme cases of violence, nobody justified it with religious basis, nobody tolerated it and turned a blind eye into it thinking that “It is only happening there and will not happen here”, but measures were taken to stop violence with violence!

And where are the media from all of this? Why isn’t any of this covered and shown to the entire world in bold? And by media I don’t mean our crippled futile local press and TV satiations that do nothing better but praise the ruling family and spread half truths about the local political unrest (that if it was not covering news of what cable of good wishes were received or sent throughout the day). But I am talking international news agencies, AP, CNN, Reuters and Bloomberg. Why isn’t the drive by American or European media report such stories instead of news of Paris Hilton or the new iPhone?

The power and numbers of the Wahabi and Muslim Brotherhood currents are on the increase around the island; one could sense that by just a quick roundup on local forums or Arabic Blogs, we need more attention on stories like those around the country. We need to educate the youth, the brainwashable youngsters that are vulnerable to fall victims so such schools of teachings aided by the lack of other social activities and religious grounds of the local communities.

Why aren’t the Americans more concerned about what’s going on in Iraq?, and why do they have to stand there night and day talking about how the war in Iraq was lost and how soon they need to get themselves back home? AlQaeda is IN Iraq contrary to our beliefs, and are actively involved not only targeting Shia, but whatever it is that is standing in the face of (and this is a direct quote from the latest tape by Ayman AlZwahiri) “”establishing a caliphate of Islamic rule across the region.”

And this is not a loose terrorist out there that put some religious slogans on a black cloth and carried an AK-47; this is the second man in AlQaeda speaking, this is BinLaden’s right hand, reminding us that they are there! Near and Active!

Iraq has been plunged into total chaos. Fixing whatever is going on there is the most difficult task any government looking to take over will have. The current government put in place by the US has not even achieved one of its targets, whether political, economical or societal.

Picture a land where anything goes. There is no authority to regulate what people do or how they act, and whatever shreds of authority that do exist only have jurisdiction over the weak; those who probably wouldn’t be able to cause any problems in the first place.

How could you not be surprised that it wasn’t the perfect breeding ground for Al Qaeda? For any terrorist organization? The US forces have NO CONTROL over it. Its already gotten way out of hand, and it feels a little like Vietnam. I really don’t know what to make of this; if they leave, they’re screwed. If they stay, they’re screwed!

I beg to differ with you on this, well ok, one thing at a time here:
    1. I didn’t say that Iraq isn’t the perfect breeding ground for terrorist. What I means is that (I) fell in the same trap the democratic party fell in assuming that there were no connection between Iraq and AlQaeda. The entire world laughed long to the accusations by the Bush administration of possible ties between Iraq and AlQaeda, just as hard as we laughed on the existence of WMD’s in Iraq. Guess who’s laughing harder now?

    2. The situation in Iraq isn’t as bad as it sounds; now away from the roadside bombs, away from shooting down helicopters and the suicide bombing, away from the mass secretarial based killings lays a nation excited about their future, excited about their economic prospects and eager for their families to experience a better life than the one they had under a totalitarian regime! Unlike what our crippled media is trying to convey to us, Iraq is not a civil war front!

The terrorists are coming from outside the country and killing civilians – as many as possible – to gain a foothold in Iraq. And they are, because we are allowing them to!

On a separate note, we all can’t imagine the number of American troops inside Iraq today. I personally came across reports that states that there are anywhere from 500 to 1,000 road vehicle convoys per day in the country of Iraq. Think of it, 500-1000 convoys. When worse comes to worse 2-3 of them will be hit by IEDs or roadside bombs. Seriously what are the odds now?

I think the phase Iraq is going through now is the same phase Afghanistan went through after the war with the Soviet Union, the scenario is somewhat deferent but still the same level of damage to everything including the live shared by the deferent troops or religious groups in the country.

that is the best environment for any group seeking to work in the dark, be it terrorists or extremest like AlQaeda, or Drug lord like escobar in Columbia, the emotional, financial, moral state of almost every one is so severely effected by the surrounding damage, the daily killing and kidnapping, they want to seek shelter in any type of a system that will rule and lead, provide money and the most basic of needs.

This type of hatred is the easiest to be spread due to the main fact that it is only spread between the weak, the youngsters and all other sorts of vulnerable people needing to feel safe and belonging to anything close to hope, any hope, like the brainwashed youngsters in Bahrain that are doing all the riots.

    Great subject moods.
