A Religious Brainfart
It wasn’t really so long ago that I was fanatical about how great Islam is and how much abiding by its principals will save us from the misery of today’s life, ongoing social problems and the economical or financial downfalls of the world today. The implant I had in school was still ticking within my head.. Islam is the way, Islam is the only way.. Islam and blind religion abiding without doubt or questioning is the only solution..
Until it hit me, Islam is inapplicable today’s society; all religions are inapplicable and obsolete. The way I see it that humanity dreadfully needed religion (or any type of laws and constraints really) throughout the early stages of its evolution, like a little child, it needed answers for unexplainable natural phenomenons, lighting, tornados earthquakes and even floods, they needed law and order, they needed to clearly mark down what is right and what is wrong. And religion fitted perfectly, it organized the societies giving it more of a civilized touch, using a very simple formula, you put up with the laws the preachers set, you get eternity, women, and all you dream of, you don’t, your soul will rotten in hell.
That is the problem we are facing today, people are getting way too materialistic, and it’s only the green benjamins that speak the international language worldwide, that’s exactly what religions fail to cater for, a human can not live his life hoping for a dream or an imaginary land of endless orgasms, life is simply too short to be lived in misery in exchange for fairyland.
You see, I really don’t need anyone to tell me that it is bad to kill another human, nor do I need those useless feelings of guilt and blame every morning when I listen to music on the radio. We need more, we need something tangible, I mean, I’m not scared of dying of sickness anymore, science created me some magical white pills that will cure me, women shouldn’t fear pregnancy, it’s all medically monitored and can be an absolutely painless experience by a small injection. Point being? The importance of faith and belief is slowly demolishing (and that’s what we really need), I don’t need to wash up and pray to god almighty every time I get the flue, I don’t need to beg for mercy when my wife goes through labor, and I sure as hell don’t need that fucking retard who calls himself a preacher screaming up every Friday in the near by mosque so god will curse the Americans for what they did to the Iraqi people. I need to get out there and reach out for what I want!
Religion has grown to be a phobia in today’s world, it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to live a purified life of sins now, starting from staring at beautiful women at work, streets or wherever exhibiting their beauty and showing all the cleavage and scent they can, on to replying the “Good Morning” greetings in the morning, to checking the food ingredients at the supermarket for alcohol or un-halal substances, handshakes with members of the other sex, and even sharing the table with someone who decided to have a drink! Why?! What good would it give us?
Do we really need all that paranoia?! Instead of lecturing the youths of how inexcusable it is to look at the hot chick walking down by the streets (ultimately encouraging them to let out their desires god knows where), shouldn’t we encourage integrating women into our societies? Instead of taking those who listen to music or those who greet others by “Good Morning” taking the followers on those endless guilt trips, shouldn’t we focus more on encouraging them to think outside the shell? Encourage critical thinking? Encourage more community work or international pressure for issues of common benefit?
Where is religion from all of this? Isn’t objective to enhance the living standards and ultimately build up the basis to a strong Islamic ummah? Where are we from all that? My simple mind can’t comprehend the excuse that it is the people and not the religion; you can only expect so much of the followers. Nobody can achieve the purity and dedication it requires, especially when following those clowns that call themselves scholars.
One a personal note, I don’t think that religion is wrong, yet on the contrary, I see its core basic laws as the ultimate solitude for the human kind (and this is where many of the people I know –including readers- confuse me for being a lost bamboozle who can’t find peace with his ideologies), again it’s not that I think they are wrong and unfair, it is that I believe that they are old, inapplicable and require moderation..
And it’s not that we don’t need religion; this urge for a stronger spiritual power will always be a part of the human mind, yet we need to move on, religion is nothing but a back holder..
I hope I got my point through to you…

Welcome to reality!
And have a wonderful new year without religious indoctrination and guilt.
come undone.
Happy New Year eMoodz!
Happy New Year 2006!
A very well written post I must say.
People in the world today are getting more materialistic indeed in which you and I won’t deny. I guess the basis of having to believe in a religion is not there anymore. Sometimes I feel people are just overdoing something like what you have said yourself, telling youths that it is inexcusable to look at a hot chick walking down the street.
Yes, as time flies by everything needs to be moderated. I do agree with your post.
Cheers!
Happy new year.
I think the search for spiritual truth is an ongoing part of human nature, even for those societies that are scientifically literate. Religions come and go. People dumped Mithra and Odin when they found Jesus more credible. And on and on it goes. Who knows what religions will exist 500 years from now?
There is much that is great in Islam but it is all mixed up with stuff which is just Arab tribal customs, and not applicable to the modern world at all. Christianity is full of outdated stuff too. (All those metaphors about lambs being sacrificed.) We need to sort out the parts that are universal and discard the parts that are local.
Thanks for your sweet wishes everyone..
Just one more point that is worth mentioning here; Islam has only been around for some 1400 years, Christianity goes past 2000 years.
It was during the 14-1600′s that groups separating themselves from the church emerged (including the notorious illuminatis), and the bigotry and fanaticism of the Roman Church was really hard to conceal, check the Trial of Galileo (where he was sentenced to house arrest for life), and the List of Prohibited Books (compiled by the Roman Catholic Church aiming to prevent the reading of immoral books or works containing theological errors and to prevent the corruption of the faithful), and even the mutilation of artistic statues that are purportedly though erotic by the Church.
Doesn’t that ring a bell? The Taliban anyone?!
9/11 was an eye-opener to many muslims worldwide, I am very optimistic that people are finally starting to think their way through life instead of aimlessly following what they think is religion.. It’s only the growth of fanatics that is worrying me..
We cannot stop fanatics from being fanatics because it’s their will. I guess the first step is to really educate the future generation about what is the real meaning of religion but somehow I have doubts that it will work. Still, like what you’ve (Moodz) mentioned the growth of fanatics in the world is worrisome. Sigh..
And that is exactly the problem we are facing, religions fail to draw a clear line of what is acceptable and what is not, isn’t that what it was meant to do in the first place?
It seems to me religions have always drawn clear lines between what is acceptable and what is not. The problem comes the fact that the lines defining the acceptable and unacceptable were drawn by men to preserve and protect the traditions of their ancient societies. The societies have changed but the ‘divinely inspired’ laws have not.
Eventually the old religions will become so obsolete they won’t work at all, and will finally be replaced with new dogma.
nice nice!
