I have been living in Bahrain for a year now and have yet visited a beach...it's such a shame! But then again if there were public beaches with women and men wearing swimming attire, the MP's would be the first to complain just as they have done with the Spring of Culture. But does any one honestly believe that this is the main and only reason why the track is being used for this event and not an actual beach? I personally think the one and only reason is that we "don't have a single beach" that is ready for an event of that scale, no infrastructure, no electricity, no easy access, no stands, no nothing. but then again, where else in the world would you find an Island with no beaches, and a country that leave %60 of the land un-used but re-claim all the shores.
